Another Day, Another Recall

Well, well, well, Trader Joe's seems to have stirred up quite a culinary commotion with its recent dance of the food recalls. From unexpected ingredients making surprise appearances to products taking a wrong turn down the flavor lane, it looks like the popular neighborhood grocer has been serving up some spicy twists and turns. Let's dig in and unravel the saddening saga of Trader Joe's latest food recall fiasco.

Trader Joe's Product Recalls

Trader Joe's issued a recall on April 17th for their Infinite Herbs Organic Basil due to potential contamination with Salmonella. We know of two organic basil brands that have been recalled as of late. In addition to the aforementioned brand, Melissa’s Fresh Organic Basil, sold in Dierberg’s Stores across Illinois and Missouri, has been linked to salmonella contamination as well.

The basil products are well past the sell by date, so should no longer be on shelves, or in fridges. However, customers who purchased the affected product and froze it are advised to immediately discard it or return it to any Trader Joe's store for a full refund. There has been a total of 12 illnesses and one hospitalization as of April 2nd, with no new cases to date.

Take a look at Trader Joe’s Product Recall Page to check for product codes if you have either of these basil brands lingering in your kitchen.

Stay informed about product recalls and prioritize your health and well-being. Remember, a little caution now can save you a lot of trouble later. Stay safe and keep your kitchen free from any unwanted guests!
