tiktok food critic wants followers to “relax”
MMA fighter turned popular content creating food critic, Keith Lee, has over 16 million followers on TikTok, and he recently told them all to “relax.”
In a recent video captioned “Keith Speaks”, Lee spoke out addressing brazen commenters. Prior to this, Lee shared a video reviewing a dumpling house in Seattle, Washington, where, he explained, was only going to be for 24 hours. Lee informed his followers, he didn’t receive a recommendation for the dumpling house or any other food establishments in the city. He was only there for business, not a food tour, so in an attempt to find food he took to DoorDash. Dough Zone Dumpling House just so happened to be the lucky selection.
After posting his review on the establishment, it didn’t take long for his followers to take to the comments telling him he should’ve patronized a different restaurant. The “Keith Speaks” video, addresses those comments.
After noticing a recurring theme of followers commenting “wrong places” or implying he’s “doing it wrong,” Keith Lee decided to speak out. “I got one thing to say after Seattle. Relax,” said Lee. “I say relax because I posted the last video and said we were in Seattle for 24 hours. We were literally there for business. I wasn’t there for a food tour, and I said I wasn’t there for a food tour. But yet, I got barraged as if I was there for a food tour, and I only went to one spot.” Keith Lee continues, “just because you don’t know about it don’t mean it’s the wrong place.” Speaking further to prove his point, “That’s the point of what we’re doing. It’s to highlight places that are not known. If it’s a spot you do know about that you really like that I don’t personally like, it’s because all of our taste buds are different.” Facts!
it's almost getting to the point where it's not fun for me or my family
Lee explained he was only addressing the issue because he didn’t want it to get to a point where it was no longer enjoyable. “It’s almost getting to that point,” he went on. “I like to walk amongst the people, and I am one of the people, and I’m appreciative, and I’m grateful that our platform has grown to where we have new people. But I really wanna get back to the side of people where we just eating food, enjoying, having fun, and allowing God to work and just being the vessel he is.” After opening up and being honest with his followers, Lee received an outpour of support and positivity in the comments of his video. Which comes at no surprise, Keith Lee was nominated for a NAACP award, we’ll all find out if he's won Saturday, March 16 at 8pm on BET and CBS. Lee was nominated for Outstanding Social Media Personality of the Year along side Angel Laketa Moore, Lynae Vanee, Druski, and Terrell Grice.
Keith Lee has shared this news a few times on TikTok and Instagram, and mentioned it again in the recent "Keith Speaks" video. "My hair is like this because the NAACP Awards are tomorrow, and we got nominated for Creator of the Year. If I win, I win. If I don't, I'm just thankful to be here," he said. "And thank you to every single person that voted." Then flashed a few photos and videos of him and wife, Ronnie, all dressed up for the awards.
